By clicking the Log In button, you agree to our Terms & Conditions. Our new discussion group is at One-click subscription: [email protected]. Wordfast Pro 5 is a standalone translation environment tool that can run on any platform. WFP5 can handle MS Office file formats plus ASP, JSP, Java, InDesig.
Wordfast Professional (WFP) is our next-generation, standalone Translation Memory (TM) tool designed for corporations, translation agencies, and translators alike. WFP runs on multiple platforms (Windows, Mac, Linux, etc.), and opens a wide variety of formats including complex desktop publishing formats. WFP integrates powerful tools for Project Managers for pre- and post-translation. For a presentation, visit www.wordfast.com, WFP's home base.
Wordfast Classic (WFC) is a CAT tool designed as a Microsoft Word® add-on. Its lightweight, flexible structure makes it easy to install and use. It is designed to meet the specific needs of the individual translator and translation workgroups that primarily use Microsoft Word to translate. WFC maintains compatibility with Trados and most other CAT tools. Read more or download the product brief.
Wordfast Anywhere (WFA) is an online version that merges Wordfast Classic and Wordfast Pro. If you already use WFP or WFC, you'll feel at home. WFA is free at this time, and most of its features will remain free.
Wordfast Server (WFS) can host and serve very large TMs and glossaries to Wordfast Pro or Wordfast Classic over the internet (LAN or WAN). WFS is the ideal solution to centralize, rationalize, and share linguistic resources. Qualified network administrators/IT personnel can deploy it without assistance.
Wordfast Aligner (WFL) (beta) is a totally free aligner for the entire translation community (no need to own a Wordfast product). WFL offers linguistic-grade, cutting edge alignment to/from 36 languages.
Demo modes: WFP and WFC offer demo modes that let translators perform small production jobs for evaluation (up to 500 segments; emptying the TM/database lets you repeat the demo mode indefinitely). WFS' demo mode allows up to three connected users for free.
You have a new computer and you want to move your Wordfast Pro (WFP) assets to it. Here is what you’ll need to do.
Installing and Licensing
You first need to register the license on your new computer. Do not use the old license or activation key. When you install WFP on a new computer, you need to generate a new activation key from your user account at wordfast.net. For more information about licensing, click here to learn how to license Wordfast.

Translation Memories & Glossaries

As for your translation memories (TMs) and glossaries, you need to know where they are on the old computer. Once you find them, copy them (TMs and glossaries are not single files but a folder containing multiple database files) onto the new computer. Because the file path on your new computer will likely be different, you will probably have to re-add them to projects to re-establish the link:
- Open your project, then click on the Project TM tab.
- Click Add Local.
- Locate the TM folder and click on OK.
- Do the same for glossaries.
Exporting and Importing Project Preferences
- Go to Preferences.
- Under “User Preferences”, Click Advanced Settings.
- Click on Export, select all settings you want to migrate as default on the new computer.
- Click on Export and browse to the location to save the .pref file.[1]
- On the new computer, with no project open, go to “User Preferences” and click on Advanced Settings.
- Choose Import and browse to the location of the .pref file.
This should allow you to have the same default settings for newly created projects on the new workstation as on the old on
